Man bludgeons wife to death with sledgehammer in Bayelsa then commits suicide

  A 46-year-old man, Patrick Markson, has committed suicide after allegedly killing his wife, Hannah, 35, in Bayelsa State.  The incident occurred at Odede Street, Tombia-Amassoma Road, Yenagoa, the state capital, in the early hours of Thursday, August 26.    According to witnesses, the man said to be a staff of the Yenagoa Local Government, reportedly bludgeoned his wife to death in her sleep with a sledgehammer and she died on the spot.   He was said to have watched the woman bleed to death and then drank a poisonous substance suspected to be insecticide, after which he laid close to the bleeding corpse and died.   The weapon   It was gathered that the couple who had six children together were embroiled in marital disputes prior to the tragic incident.    According to Vanguard, the disagreement bothers on money realised from a contract handed to the husband by some members of his wife's family.   Speaking to the publication, a woman close to the deceased woman described her as ge

The guy known as Ogbeni Damola is of the opinion that the underdevelopment and corruption that is consuming many African nations, is proof enough that prayers don’t work.   The Uk has sanctioned Teodoro Obiang Mangue, the son of Equatorial Guinea's president for misappropriating millions of dollars spent on luxury mansions, private jets and a $275,000 glove worn by Michael Jackson. UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said Teodoro Obiang Mangue, who is also vice president of Equatorial Guinea, had participated in "corrupt contracting arrangements and soliciting bribes, to fund a lavish lifestyle inconsistent with his official salary as a government minister." FG releases photos of 4 inmates who escaped from Jos Custodial Centre

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) has published the photos of four inmates who escaped from a prison facility in Jos, Plateau state.   The photos were released Friday, July 9, via the NCS's Facebook account in a post titled: Faces of inmates that escaped from Jos Custodial Centre.   The NCS disclosed that the inmates escaped around 2am on July 8 and advised members of the public who have useful information that could lead to the re-arrest of the fugitives to contact the nearest police station.     Mr Samuel Aguda, the Controller- in-Charge of the command, confirmed the development to newsmen on Friday in Jos.   Aguda, who said the incident occurred in the wee hours of Thursday, attributed the development to negligence on the part of personnel on duty.     He said: "Yesterday [Thursday], at about 1 a.m., four suspects, who are awaiting trial over the kidnapping and armed robbery, escaped from our facility.   "When I came to the scene, I realised that it is either tha
