Nigerian athlete, Blessing Okagbare, has been provisionally suspended after failing a drug test at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics on Friday July 30. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), the independent body created by the World Athletics that manages all integrity issues for the sport, announced the decision. According to the body, Okagbare tested positive for Human Growth Hormone.   “Growth Hormone is a non-specified substance on the 2021 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List and a provisional suspension is mandatory following an adverse analytical finding for such substance under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules. The AIU collected the sample from Ms. Okagbare during an out-of-competition test on 19 July. The WADA-accredited laboratory that analysed the sample notified the AIU of the adverse analytical finding at mid-day Central European Time yesterday, Friday 30 July. Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, is set to join Turkish Super Lig club Fatih Karagumruk in the coming hours, according to Fanatik. Musa will join as a free agent from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Kano Pillars. The Karagumruk outfit are said to have beaten their rivals Galatasaray and Besiktas to the signing of Musa. The 28-year-old spent the last three months with Kano Pillars. Musa signed a short term deal with the Nigerian club, which has allowed him leave for Turkey.   Officials are looking to discourage Athletes from engaging in sexual activity at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as they installed cardboard beds in the Olympic village. According to Dezeen magazine, Olympic officials who already warned 2021 Games participants to avoid two-person push-ups because of the coronavirus, set up 18,000 of the cardboard beds in the notoriously sex-crazed athletes’ village. “Those beds can stand up to 200 kilograms,” Takashi Kitajima, the general manager of the Athletes Village, was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Kitajima further added that a “wild celebration” such as an athlete bagging a gold could perhaps be bad news for the bed. “Of course, wood and cardboard would each break if you jumped on them,” he said. “Beds to be installed in Tokyo Olympic Village will be made of cardboard, this is aimed at avoiding intimacy among athletes,” American distance runner Paul Chelimo tweeted.

Wembley Stadium, London: on  a night fraught with tension and hope, Italy clinched its first major title for 15 years with a penalty shootout win over England in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium. Luke Shaw's goal inside the opening two minutes gave England a lead it looked like it would hold onto all night, before a goalmouth scramble midway through the second half allowed Leonardo Bonucci to poke home an equalizer for Italy. For the remainder of the match it felt as though extra-time and penalties were inevitable, as neither side seemed willing or brave enough to commit enough men forward to really trouble the opposing defenders.   The Chelsea family officially bid farewell to Willy Caballero yesterday after he left a parting message on his  Instagram . Caballero posted an emotional goodbye late last night, thanking the club for nearly half a decade of fond memories. A rush of heartfelt responses was sent his way, including from John Terry and Tammy Abraham, amongst others. It was confirmed last month that the goalkeeper had been included in the Blues release list, one of seven to be leaving Stamford Bridge. Football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo is available for just £25million this summer, according to new reports. His club, Juventus paid around four times this amount to sign the five-time Ballon d'Or winner back in 2018 but according to Gazzetta, Juventus are ready to save their costs on Ronaldo's salary by selling him amid rumoured interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.   Juventus could save as much as £75m in salary by parting with Ronaldo this summer.
