At least 46 people were found dead inside of a semi-truck in San Antonio, Texas, Monday evening, June 27.  City councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcia referred to the victims as migrants, after she was briefed on the situation by the San Antonio police chief.   The trailer was discovered on a road in the southwest of the city’s downtown by a local worker who heard a cry for help around 6pm, police said. When he came to investigate, he found the doors partially open and a number of deceased individuals inside. Sixteen survivors, including four children, were taken to local hospitals suffering from heat stroke and heat exhaustion, the city’s fire chief Charles Hood told reporters at a press conference.   Mr Hood said those taken alive from the trailer were “hot to the touch,” but were likely to survive.   “It is our hope and prayer that the conditions of those that were transported will improve as we speak,” he added. The world's richest man, Jeff Bezos, is reportedly investing in anti-ageing technology that could extend the average human lifespan by up to 50 years.   Bezos is said to be one of several billionaire investors in Altos Labs, a Silicon Valley tech firm working on experimental - and potentially dangerous - new life extension technologies.  The new company has hired dozens of experts from top universities to research how cells age and how to reverse that process.  This "reprogramming technology" aims to return normal cells to a "primitive" stem cell state - that is how cells act when someone is first born - in order to heal and regenerate.   Among those hired is Spanish scientist Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte. Talibans are coming for me" Afghan women beg US soldiers for help through gate of Kabul airport as Talibans fire into the air and whip people.  There has been chaos at Kabul airport today, August 18, as people try to flee from the capital that has fallen to the Taliban.  Women were filmed crying and begging US troops to let them flee on evacuation flight, saying: "Help!   Italian police are investigating a disturbing death threat addressed to Pope Francis in Rome.    Law enforcement confirmed an envelope containing three bullets was sent to the Vatican.   The suspicious package was intercepted by staff at a mail sorting facility before it reached the Pope and had been sent from France, according to the carabinieri provincial command in Milan.  A handwritten address on the envelope read: ‘The Pope, Vatican City, St Peter’s Square, Rome’. According to Italian police, the three bullets are presumed to be for a pistol and the envelope also contained a message alluding to financial operations at the Vatican.   Representatives of the Holy See are yet to comment and an investigation is ongoing.   This comes weeks after Pope Francis spent 10 days in hospital after having half of his colon removed in a pre-planned surgery.  

  A 55-year-old woman was allegedly beheaded by her boyfriend in broad daylight near Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday, July 28.   America Mafalda Thayer was found by stunned cops, with her head "laying next to her body," in the middle of the street.   Officers also found a large knife in a bin in a nearby alley, KMSP reports.     Several people witnessed the attack, according to the search warrant.   Thayer’s boyfriend, 42-year-old Alexis Saborit, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, police said.   Saborit had previously been convicted of gross misdemeanor domestic assault, KMSP added.   On Wednesday afternoon, July 28,  the suspect was scheduled to be in court to face the new charges, but didn't show up.  A colleague of the victim said Thayer had been in a long-term relationship with the suspect and domestic abuse had been a consistent problem.  A video purportedly showing the b...

  The shocking moment a bungee jumper without a safety cord fell to her death, after mistakenly thinking it was her time to leap, was captured on video.   Yecenia Morales, 25, reportedly leapt from the bridge in northern Colombia after hearing a signal meant for her boyfriend.   Around 100 people were waiting to bungee off a bridge at a height of around 45 meters when the incident occurred.   Yecenia was with her boyfriend, who was ahead of her in the line for the activity. A bungee cord had not yet been fastened to her ankles when she heard a signal given for her partner to jump.
